Respondus LockDown Browser™
Respondus LockDown Browser™ is a tool that
locks down the testing environment within D2L. When students use LockDown
Browser™ , they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL,
or access other applications. Once an assessment is started, students
are locked into it until they submit it for grading. A complete
list of features can be viewed on the Respondus website. LockDown
Browser is compatible with Windows, Mac and iOS.
When an online exam requires the use of Respondus LockDown
Browser™, the student will be informed at the start-up page of
the exam. The installation is very brief and simple. Once installed,
students can actually delete the desktop icon as they will not need
to open it externally of D2L now. When they navigate to a quiz that
requires LDB, from any browser, they will now see an auto launch button
within D2L.
NEW! Students
no longer access LockDown Browser externally of D2L via a desktop shortcut.
LockDown Browser now opens directly from the quiz start page on D2L,
using any standard browser! You will still need to install LockDown
Browser on your machine if you haven't already done so, but then you
may then delete the LDB shortcut/icon that it may place on your desktop.
You will now see an "Auto Launch" button right on the start
page of any quiz that requires the use of LDB.
INSTALLATION:
LockDown Browser is already installed in all campus labs.
Students will also be presented with the download link when they attempt
a D2L quiz that requires LockDown Browser.
The software can also be downloaded by Lock Haven University faculty
and students at any time by visiting the link below.
