eCollege.NExT Enhancements
As Pearson eCollege continues to improve their new .NExT platform, the enhancements listed below have been released for courses running in the .NExT format.
- Visual Editor has been upgraded to include a new "Paste from Word" feature. Detailed release notes can be reviewed at http://docs.next.ecollege.com/next/visual_editor.html. Demo video can be viewed at http://releasenotes.ecollege.com/demo/VizEd/.
- Plain Text Editor also upgraded to be available in Course Home and Syllabus in addition to text/mulimedia content items. Demo video can be viewed at http://releasenotes.ecollege.com/demo/pte2.swf.
- Learning Path: Path Builder tool was released for .NExT courses on August 13, 2009. Detailed release notes can be viewed here. Learning Path can be enabled by going to your Course Admin tab, enable/disable course tools. Once enabled, it will appear as a link next to the Course Scheduler tool.
The new Learning Path: Path Builder is a tool that displays the entire left-hand course navigation tree and allows for the identification of “triggers” and “targets” within a Course. Instructors or Curriculum Specialists choose a student action (i.e. View, Submit, Respond, earn Points) to be associated with a trigger, and then based on a student performance associated with the trigger, the course will provide access to the target. A student must meet both the requirements of time (if any restrictions apply) and performance condition before the Course Content Item will become available.
